AS in Human Services
The Associate’s Degree in Human Services prepares students for entry-level positions in a rewarding field geared towards assisting individuals who are undergoing crisis or chronic situations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in this area is projected to grow 22 percent from 2015 to 2022. Graduates of the program will be proficient in the principles and techniques required to assist individuals in identifying and altering behaviors so that they can achieve independence and personal growth. The curriculum stresses the importance of respect for all people and sensitivity to cultural diversity. Students are required to complete two supervised field experiences. Graduates will seek employment working with adults and children in a variety of settings such as social service agencies, mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities, domestic abuse shelters, and community centers.
