Admissions Requirements for the Practical Nursing Certificate Program

In addition to the general admissions requirements, the School of Nursing includes the following when interviewing and considering candidates for the Practical Nursing Certificate Program:

  1. GPA and overall academic performance.
  2. Applicant's results on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).
  3. Prior academic experience in the areas of Algebra, Biology, and Chemistry.
  4. Placement results in Math and English, if required.
  5. Letters of recommendation, if required.

Admissions Requirements for the Registered Nursing Associate Degree Program

In addition to the general admissions requirements, the School of Nursing includes the following when interviewing and considering candidates for the Registered Nursing Associates Degree Program:

  1. GPA and overall academic performance.
  2. Transcript from Monroe College Practical Nursing Certificate Program and demonstrate competency on standardized comprehensive exam OR transcript from an approved School of Practical Nursing a LPN license to practice in New York State, and results on required exams which may include the Test of Essential Academic Kills (TEAS) and the LPN Step Exam.
  3. Prior academic experience in Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Expository Writing and Introduction to Psychology.
  4. Prior performance or placement results as required.

Admissions Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Program

The School of Nursing considers the following for progression into the Bachelor program:

  1. GPA and overall academic performance
  2. Personal essay
  3. Recommendations
  4. Transcript from Monroe College Registered Nurse AAS Program and demonstrate competency on standardized comprehensive exam or transcript from an approved School of Registered Nursing and a RN license to practice in New York State.
