Institutional Review Board (IRB )
The Monroe College IRB is an appropriately constituted group that has been charged with the review of proposed research protocols, both in advance and periodically, in order to ensure that the rights of human subjects are protected and that risk of harm to subjects is minimized. The framework for protection of human subjects is set in Federal regulation. The IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications in (to secure approval), or disapprove research. The members of the IRB work together to ensure compliance with Monroe College policies and procedures, federal regulations, and state and local laws relative to the review of human subjects research studies.
